Have a Sense of Humor and Don't be a Hipocrit

So I thought that the SNL skit was hilarious. Like I had said best I had seen in a long time. One of McCain's staffers disagrees with me. She said it was sexist and just wrong. What happen to having a sense of humor about yourself and others? What happened to it being the best form of flattery to be made fun of on SNL. Why was it ok to make fun of Hilary Clinton over and over again but not ok to make fun of Palin. I heard people constantly tell Hilary to get over it and stop being a baby. Then Palin comes along and everyone is saying leave her alone don't be so mean. David said it is always ok until it is their own candidate and then they think it is wrong. Humor is the thing that gets me through life and I feel like the FCC and so many others are trying to take a form of my entertainment and humor away. If you don't like it turn off the TV. I know I threw the FCC in there and it was kind of off topic but they make me mad too. I watched rated R movies when I was young and I saw a lot and heard a lot I probably should not have and guess what? I am not a murderer, I don't do drugs, I don't steel, and I don't live on the street. I watched so much TV it is unreal and I turned out ok. You know why because I had parents who talked to me. Ok enough of my FCC rant now back to politics.

The other thing is people being such hypocrites. It is one thing to change your mind and have a different opinion because you learn more information that is not what is happening here. Bill O'Reily went off about how horrible Jamie Lynn Spears and her parents were when she got pregnant at 16(I think that is how old she is). He said they are the absolute worst parents and just went on and on about them. Palin's daughter gets pregnant and he says leave her alone and let the family work this out in private. I got the impression that he thought they were a great family but she just make one mistake. Believe me I agree leave them alone but why is it ok for her and not for Jamie Lynn. Is there really a difference here.

McCain went on the view the other day and their was discussion about how they should not have asked him tough questions and attacked him. Someone who I cannot remember recently said this is not a date. We are not just trying to find out the fluff stuff about these candidates. They are interviewing for the President and Vice President they need to answer the tough questions no matter who is asking them. If they want it they should be prepared. It is great to give someone a chance at a job when they don't have experience but not for President or Vice President. That to me is so different, you better be prepared.

I feel like the Republicans seem whiny and desperate at the moment. Every time I turn on the TV they are complaining about something else. Both sides need to get over it, everyone stop slinging mud and tell me how are you going to fix the economy, the education system, the health care system, and so on. I am very frustrated at our politicians and our median right now as I am sure many are. I was actually thinking this was going to be a great election and I thought it would be fascinating. I am so disappointed by it now.

I am done ranting and raving for the night.

I wish someone would publish just a listing, a comprehensive listing, of the issues and where the candidates stand - more importantly, their plan to fix it! Period. No sound bites. No BS. Just straight forward. Let me read it and then it would be easier to decide. That will never happen because I think these candidates don't know specifically how to fix the issues at this time. The President doesn't really make any changes alone anyway.

I guess some of this stuff comes from living in a free society. I wouldn't want to be in the public eye for all the money in the world. So, why would anyone super great want to do it for what the President makes....

I guess you can tell that I don't think either candidate is top-notch. :)

Palin

I blogged not long ago about the Vice Presidents and in it I mentioned that Palin has a lot on her plate and I don't think I would put my kids in the same position as she did. I blogged about it because as I saw her children on stage and in the media so much lately it bugged me. It made me kind of angry and I thought at first it was because she put them in this position. After I blogged about it I started to think why did it bother me so much. I do not have anything against Mom's working. I think it is great when a Dad wants to stay home and take care of his kids and the women works. I would never want my girls to think that I am someone who thinks women have to stay home and raise their children. So if this part did not bug me, what was it. Was it because her kids were plastered across TV and made to stand up in front of everyone, especially her pregnant daughter. I realized this was not it because maybe her daughter said go for it Mom I will stand up there and take whatever I have to because I want you to do this. This is a private choice for them and I hope it was a family decision and they did think about the fact that they would be changing their young kids lives. It is their decision and should not have any impact on what you think of her as a possible vice president. So then what bugged me so much really. I think it is that the media and both sides made such a huge deal of the child with down syndrome and the child that is pregnant. The said mean things, made up stories, and plastered them all over the TV and newspapers. In some ways they had to see this coming because that is how our media is. So in some ways I do wonder if they really considered all this before she agreed. The thing is I believe in free speech but there is a point when it is not free speech and it is just mean and vindictive. When it boarders on breaching someones privacy I am not for that. I do not like the attacks that both sides do and I do not like when the media drags kids into their stories just to get a good story.

In regards to Sarah Palin, it would be nice if the media were to leave her family alone. I think we all get that her daughter is pregnant and do not need to keep hearing it. I hope that she doesn't get married for the sake of the race! But, the Palins had to know that all of this would come out - and some made up stuff. Hopefully, they are letting it roll of their backs....

When I was in CA, we got USA Today and one of the letters to the editor really offered some words of support for Bristol. It was Suzanne Somers - who had a child when she was really young also. It was a really nice letter and told her to hang in there!

As far as her working while being a mom, I miss working sometimes, so I can totally understand someone's desire to do both. I know I worked a minimum of 65-70 hours per week, with a lot of travel, when I worked and when Tommy was born, I just knew I would never see him if I continued with that particular career path. I think that is how I feel about her with the VP job. I am more concerned about her lack of knowledge with foreign policy and I just can't picture her as President. Just can't do it. The debates will be really important...!

I cannot see Palin being Vice President or President. The more I watch her the less I like her. I really do like John McCain and was kind of split but I think it will be Obama all the way for me now.

Did you catch Palin on the 20/20 interview. I think it was 20/20 - the one with Charlie Gibson, who you could tell really doesn't like her. Anyway, I think she held her own under pretty tough questioning.

I really want to see the debates. I think they will be very interesting.

I did read an article on her that was about the time her baby was born. Very, very strange. About how no one could have suspected she was pregnant. I guess she announced it at 7 months and you couldn't even tell, even though this was her 5th child. And how her daughter at the same time was out of school for a couple months with mono. It was interesting. I am sure it is the media making up coincidences, but it really made you think.....

Who knows what is really up with any of these people! I hate to be so cynical, but with politics, it's hard not to...

Stephanie Meyer

So there has been a lot in the news or should I say AZ Central, we don't get the paper so I read all the news online, about Stephanie Meyer refusing to write Midnight Sun. Supposedly a rough draft was leaked on the Internet and she no longer wants to write it because it made her so mad. I am kind of confused though because I could have sworn that the rough draft was on her official page. Does that mean someone close to her posted it on her official page, the same place she put her comments about it being leaked. It just seems weird to me. I feel bad for her if this happened that would hard to take that you have trusted someone and they leak it when you do not want anyone to see if yet. The thing that really got me though was when I was reading the article and saw all the quotes from readers in the story. They were all from teens, it was obvious, which makes me go back to the why did I like this book so much when it was written for teens and clearly has a high teen fan base? Those teens can be kind of vicious when they don't get what they want. It is scary how fast they turned on her when she decided not to finish the book. Wow?

Gee, I hadn't heard anything about this. I hope she has a change of heart. You wouldn't believe how many people at school are reading these books!

Are you Voting for the President or Vice President?

I usually don't think really hard about the Vice President. I usually want to know a little but fore some reason this time I feel like I really want to know more and I am worried about who the Vice President will be. It seems like everybody lately is more concerned about who the Vice President is going to be as opposed to the President. I know they just announced it so that is part of the reason. It seems though that it is more then that from the way people are talking. Here is what I am hearing from people and have also thought some of it myself.

On the Republican side McCain is old and has had skin cancer several times. Quite frankly he looked terrible the other night after Palin's speech. He looked like he could not move at all and looked even older then he is. Many people are saying it is very possible something could happen to him in office and they want a Vice President that they will like.

On the Democratic side O'Bama will be the first black president and many people are worried about him being assassinated. I have heard this a lot and I wish I did not think it was at all true but there are some really messed up people in this world. So they are saying they want a Vice President they can trust.

I think there are people switching from Democrat to Republican because Palin is a women, they feel more connected to her. They don't really look at what she stands for or things she has done politically. She has a lot on her plate personally and will she be able to be as focused as she needs to be. A lot of people don't like Biden. They have said he can be very nasty. I don't know much about either one so I will have to look into them farther, but from what it seems that it has come down to the less of the two evils of the Vice Presidents. This is really not where I saw this race going but the last few days have seemed to move in this direction.

On a side note I feel bad as a women saying that she has a lot on her plate personally and can she handle this. The women in me wants to say leave her alone, women can do it all. I say good for you for accepting this challenge. The mother in me says you cannot do it all without a price somewhere. She has exposed her children to some harsh reality's the last few days and I don't think as a mother I would do that. It is hard enough for her daughter to be pregnant at 17 but then to have the country scrutinize her. She has a child with Down Syndrome, kids are not easy to begin with but add those kind of complications and it gets harder. I cannot say this is a choice I would have made for my family but then again I am not her and it will never be a choice that I will need to make.

I have been pondering getting my Master's degree. I am very concerned about how much this will impact my family. I hope anyone taking on the role of Vice President would give at least this much thought to the role they are undertaking.
